Have you ever thought that the reason you see so many "broken down" Harleys is because there are more Harleys on the road than any other bike? Also the "average" HD you see is older than the average Japanese bike and has more miles on it - mainly because Harleys last longer than Japanese bikes.

I freely admit that the HD's manufactured in the 1970's when AMF owned the company were not a quality product. Reality check; They were total pieces of shit. Starting in the mid 1980's when HD produced the Evolution engine and continuing through today, HD produces the most reliable, longest lasting "heavyweight" motorcycles available, bar none. Most HD riders never have a breakdown. I'm one of these. I've sat here for 15 minutes trying to think of anyone I know who rides a post 1985 HD that has told me about a breakdown. I can think of only one (someone cut his drive belt) and I know lots of guys (and gals) with 50,000+ miles on their bikes. On the other hand, I can think of several friends who ride Japanese bikes that have broken down with far fewer miles. I've hauled some of their bikes to the dealer for them.

I hope you and your friends enjoy riding your bikes, no matter where they were made. If I ever meet up with you on the road I would be happy to ride with you.
